The chateau in Criș was built by the Bethlen family in the Renaissance style. The first phase of construction is dated 1519, the second 1683. In a description from 1845, A. de Gerando reports that according to an inscription legible at that time, the castle was built in 1300 by Markus Bethlen, which cannot be verified today. The castle has corner bastions, defensive walls with battlements and gateways. Inside there are halls with gothic vaults, rich renaissance sculptures.
