CioclovinaThe Cioclovina Cave was formed near the village of the same name in the Boșorod commune, Hunedoara County, at the sources of the Luncanilor Valley. The cave was carved into the mountains by the Ponorici stream and actually consists of two caverns: the dry cavern and the water cavern. Tourists can admire only the dry cave, while the water cavern is accessible only to speleology specialists. The cave is particularly remarkable because it houses the largest single crystal in Romania, measuring 113 centimeters. In Cioclovina Cave, nature has created a mysterious underground world. Various cave-specific formations can be admired here, including amber beads. The oldest skull of Homo Sapiens Fosilis in our country, guano deposits, and a new phosphate mineral, Ardealit, were discovered here.

An impressive treasure of jewelry over 3,000 years old, according to archaeologists, was discovered four decades ago in Cioclovina Cave. Thousands of amber, glass, and faience objects make up one of Romania's greatest archaeological treasures. The story of the discovery was detailed by the speleologist who ventured into the underground labyrinths.
It is not recommended to follow the river as suggested by Google Maps or Open Street Maps. Instead, follow the road for two more hairpin turns. After the first turn to the left, take the small path up after 200 meters to the right. Follow the path until you arrive at a larger open meadow. From there, continue straight on and follow the path into the forest. You will see a small trail going into the forest. After entering the forest, you will see the cave.
