In the first half of the 14th century, a small hall church was built on the site of today's fortified church. In order to be able to withstand the increasingly frequent attacks on alpine pastures, it was rebuilt in a fortified manner in the 16th century. As a result, the choir received two floors, which are equipped with casting and shooting embrasures. Also in the 16th century the polygonal ring was built, which is reinforced with towers in the respective cardinal points. The first floor of the bell tower is habitable and equipped with a flue. The second floor has small bays in each corner, each with three embrasures. This is a building detail that can be found in this way also in Thuringia, Germany. Also worth seeing is the gate tower, a massive construction with a battlement on five floors, three of which are equipped with defensive devices.
